| Homecoming was amazing...
From playing volleyball all day...
to racing home with Getty...
to my three minute shower...
to having around an hour to get ready...
to leaving the beutineir at home...
to posing for the paparazzi pictures...
to waving at Jay and Caitlin through the sunroof...
to Scott telling me I had to order off the Kid's Menu (he was kidding)
to Jon asking our waiter for crayons...
to playing pictionary and the dot game on our table...
to Mary Glen devouring her ravioli (haha)...
to my fabulous creme brule...
to our girls bathroom party ("What do you do in there anyway?")...
to the guys' bathroom party ("I thought you guys didn't travel in packs")...
to our waiter asking us if we wanted a round of beers...
to driving around South's parking lot looking for a close spot (Scott just park!")...
to Bailey holding Burke for their picture...
to making our dates hold our cameras in their pockets...
to Andrew and I joining the train and thinking everyone was behind us...
to being shorter than Scott with my shoes off...
to the slow dances, the fast dances, and the swing dances...
to sweating like pigs...
to Kristen's wet hair...to being the last ones to leave the dance floor...
to walking past all the freshmen waiting for rides feeling on top of the world...
to driving with the windows down and the sunroof open, singing to the radio...
to watching the guys play Polish ping pong...
to losing a nail...
to watching most of Coach Carter ("This is the story of South's basketball team")...
to a perfect end to a perfect night...
It was an experience I won't be forgetting.
Thanks Scott, Kristen, Ian, Jay, Caitlin, Bailey, Burke, Jon, Ally,
Andrew, Mary Glen, Greg, and Elizabeth. I had a blast with you guys.

| Wow. Mexico was amazing. It is so sad to see the poverty the people
live in. I now understand why people literally risk their lives to get
into the U.S. It's just so horrible down there.
Our group worked at the Rio Bravo Children's Home in Reynosa. The kids
were adorable. I fell in love with a little 5-year-old named Annie. She
was so cute. I'll try to put pics up when I get my CDs back. I
got the book I'll Love You Forever, I'll Like You For Always.... in
Spanish and I read it to her. She made me read it 4 times. Then within
3 hours of meeting her she fell asleep in my arms. It was the most
amazing feeling ever. She chased me around calling me 'amiga'. The only
English she knew was "Come on", so whenever she wanted something she'd
say that. Ah she was so adorable. Needless to say I was quite
disappointed when I found out you can't adopt children from the home.
The bugs in Mexico were horrible. We had to sleep outside since the
dorms wer so hot. The 1st morning I woke up and I had gotten bit/stung
by something and the whole side of my foot was red, hot, and swollen.
So I took benadryl and was tired all day. The next day I woke up and
had a swollen bug bite on my eye so I couldn't open my eye all the way.
So I took benadryl and was tired all day. The thrid day I was up and my
whole eyelid was gigantic and my eye was swollen shut. Yes it was
pretty bad. So I took benadryl multiple times that day and was dead
tired, but I resisted peer pressure and didn't take a nap. It was so
amazing, the group praying over me and just knowing people care about
me. I was half blind for a day. Annie was so worried, she was so
excited when it started opening that night.
Schlitterbahn was fun. Rock, paper, scissors, slap while we waited 1
hour and 45 minutes for Master Blaster, the only ride we rode all day,
everyone in line was watching us. Riley, Ben, and I getting tangled up
in a ball where the water comes into the wave pool and almost drowning.
That night I got to have a really good, deep talk with someone I've
never like, realized there's so much about him I never could have
guessed, that he's really not the person I thought he was and he
struggles too. It was amazing to have him open up like that. And I'm
still praying for you.

| Summer......
Crazy random nights with Emily, playing some intense foosball and
dancing to one of my CD's from like 5th grade, baking cupcakes, eating
half of them, taking pictures, running barefoot in the rain, my mom
yelling at us "Are you trying to get struck by lightning?!"
Movie nights with the girls, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, haha I
was crying and Laura kept staring at me, Sheridans, deciding which
character each of us were (yes very middle school), "Lauren, you're the
one with blue hair!" Yes Emily loves me.
Volleyball nights with Getty, Lauren, and Kristen, aw man, I could play
volleyball all night, all the bugs, definitely swallowed one, grunting
or squeaking in my case, Kristen and I definitely dominated, attempting
to block, but really just messing Lauren up, ah it was great fun and we
need to do it again!
Next week is CYT little kids camp! I'm assistant teaching dance, which
you would never guess if you saw me on DDR, right Emily? Then there's
weights, South Vball camp, UMKC Vball camp, little kids show, San
Diego, Yearbook Editors Camp, Mexico, South Dakota??, CYT Teen Camp??,
working at Taco Via, and somehow fitting in reading 3 books which
apparently I should save until the end of the summer. I've read the
first five pages of one, and some of Genesis! Yes I am excited!
Oh and just for Tyler: I think injustice is bad, don't do it. Ha.
EDIT: Lauren, Kelly, Kristen, and Me, Awww aren't we adorable....

| So the school year is almost over. While I am excited for a break, I'm
so sad that freshman year is over. This year has been a blast, I've
made so many new friends and had so many great times. Today was the
seniors last day and I am going to miss them so much. Lauren, Kristen,
Clarkie, and Amanda, thanks for being so nice to me this year.
Volleyball won't be the same without you guys. Lauren- The freshman
jokes all the time, going to see Midsummer, we decided you are Magic,
singing Spanish songs on the way home; Kristen- I had so much fun
helping you paint for B+B! Time warp! Haha you crazy dancer. I was more
excited about prom than you were; Clarkie- The UMKC games were such
fun, especially those ice cream things, Kelly not wanting you to drive
me home, haha. "No talking about Kelly on the way home!"; Amanda- You
were awesome in the MO-KAN game, good luck in college!
I think I'll actually miss being a freshman. It's always entertaining
when people have no comeback so they just call you freshman. What I've
learned this year/ My advice to next years' freshmen:
1. Get involved- it will help so meet new people of different grades and have fun!
2. The seniors aren't scary. It's not like the movies where they like
stuff people in trashcans. They're actually really nice, don't be
afraid to talk to them.
3. If you have to come late to the South vs. East basketball games you
might as well not come at all. You will have to stand by some senior
jerks, then get busted by the cop, and end up having to sit on the lap
of someone you barely know at halftime while really doing a 10 minute
wall-sit because you don't want to crush her.
4. Laugh at Alderson's jokes. Yes they are dumb, but it will make her like you even if you hate Biology.
5. Go to the Bonfire. It sounds dumb but it's a blast, plus free food!
6. Don't try to stand in the first row at any sporting event. The seniors get mad. I did get away with the second row once...
7. Don't run to lunch like you did in middle school. You will look like a dork. (I never did this, but I have witnessed it).
8. Volleyball is a fun sport. You should try it.
9. It helps to have an older sibling or cousin that goes to the school.
Yes you will be called so-and-so's little sister or Getty's cousin all
year, but they ususally know what they are doing and you should listen
to them, especially when it comes to things like buying American Eagle
pants a size too small.
10. You don't have to announce that you are a freshman. You may even get mistaken for a junior.
11. If your Aunt happens to be very involved at the school and your
Aunt and Mom are very close, be very careful, everthing you do is being watched, even sitting next to
someone can get you in trouble.
12. Take honors classes. They really aren't that bad.
13. You will trip on the stairs sometime. It really isn't that big of a deal.
14. Don't wear a skirt on yearbook signing day. It's outside and will
probably be windy and your skirt will end up blowing up, flashing a
bunch of seniors. Yeah not fun. Plus its really hard to hold a skirt
and sign yearbooks at the same time.
15. Don't drink and drive, party too much, or do anything bad. And have fun! Highschool is a blast!
That was deep, huh??

PROM is tonight! Yay! I've been told by numerous people that I'm more
excited than the people actually going to Prom. Ha. I wish I was going,
but I know, I know, I'll get my chance. I'm so excited for all
you girls and guys who are going and I can't wait to see pictures! You
are all going to look so beautiful! Have fun, buckle up, and don't
drink and drive. Ah I'm so excited!
